Lost paradise on the west coast of Ceará

Lost paradise on the west coast of Ceará

A beautiful, quiet beach where you can understand the real meaning of life. This is how you feel when you meet the little Icaraí de Amontada, affectionately called Icaraizinho, located about 200 kilometers from Fortaleza, in Ceará. The beach is in a privileged location and is known worldwide for being a point of wind sports, mainly kitesurfing and windsurfing. With only 5 thousand inhabitants, the beachfront of Icaraí is quiet and inviting to rest. There are no street vendors there and there are few people in the sand. The sea water is calm, almost without waves and warm.

Although it is a fishing village, Icaraizinho receives very special tourists, coming mainly from Europe and giving a brighter future to the destination. The simplicity of its streets contrasts with some exquisite lodging options. Who wants to have fun and spend less also find simpler hostel options. Already the restaurants are commanded by local residents or by old tourists who left their lands to live with more quality of life in Icaraí. And the tourist who goes to the graceful beach can enjoy the day before dawn to enjoy water sports, the warm water for a simple sea bath, and enjoy buggy and boat trips. At night there are also nice leisure options.

General Tips

The region has two well-defined seasons: rainy season, call and winter, and summer, which lasts most of the year, accompanied by constant wind.
The temperature ranges from 23 degrees celsius to 35 degrees celcius. Even in the rainy season, the temperature is pleasant, with no need for cold clothing.
From June to December you will find stronger wind in the half-day period until late afternoon. During the mornings, you will have lighter winds that are perfect for beginners. Or just to sleep...
Wind statistic

Icaraizinho has a hot and dry climate. The ideal is to bring light and casual clothes, day and night. Also important to bring bags, backpacks or bad practices since the arrival in the city can include car exchange and walk in the sand.

There are some supermarkets in town that offer basic (and we mean basic) items such as sunscreen, toiletries and toiletries. However, more specific products may not be found or have a higher cost and lower quality, so it is best to take them with you.

Suggestion of items to bring with you: Shorts, Light shirts / T-shirts, Swimsuit, Sunscreen, Insect repellent, Slippers or sandals, Lightweight pants, Long sleeved blouses, Sunglasses + a pair of spare (only if you need ), Hat or cap, Photo camera, Personal medicines, Bath towel, Body moisturizers, Spare contact lenses and cash, as not all venues accept card.

There is no hospital in Icaraizinho, only a small clinic that offers limited service and the nearest hospital is in Itapipoca (1 hour and a half by car). In case of a serious emergency, helicopters can be used to transport the victim to Fortaleza (** costs must be covered with your health insurance). It is important to bring prescriptions or medicines because the small pharmacy in Icaraizinho has a very limited stock of medicines.
The only mobile carrier that has a signal, without repeater antenna, is VIVO, which has 3G signal for internet access as well.
Local enterprises use radio signals from a provider that is 70km away and 3G signal from the mobile operator, so there is no broadband via cable or fiber optics in the region. Enjoy and disconnect yourself a bit and enjoy nature.

Location and means of access

Located on the west coast of Ceará, between Fortaleza and Jericoacoara, about 200km from Fortaleza and 130km from Jericoacoara. The access roads of Fortaleza are asphalted in their entirety and have a large part duplicated. Access can be made by ordinary touring cars, not requiring 4x4 vehicles.
The rental of vehicles is an economic option for a few days of stay or for those who want to stroll through several beaches of the coast, which do not have regular transportation between them. With your own vehicle you can have the freedom to walk freely between them.
Transfers can be arranged with the local inns or agencies of the tourist services area. We recommend for those who want to relax and do not bother with the direction, for those who will stay more than 10 days, for groups and who will arrive at night and make trip at night, without knowing the road.
